Aaah, Sunshine

I had a blast down in LA last weekend. Warm, sunny weather in December was a very nice change from the current Sacramento-area fogginess. I really enjoyed hanging out with Kate L.--it was almost like the old days at TWFL. =)

And yesterday, I was over in the Bay Area (also warmer than Sacto., in case you were wondering). A whole group of Unit 2 hall staff got together. Kate W. is visiting from North Carolina, which was the occasion of the reunion. It was cool to have so many people back together, and of course, I always enjoy spending time with Miss W.

All my travels, though, have me nostalgic for the time when my friends didn't *ALL* live in different zip codes. It seems like everyone has just spread out. And I'm realizing that there's a pretty good chance that no matter where I go to law school, I won't be very close to anyone. Or almost anyone, at least. I miss you all!!!! Well, thank goodness for the internet and free cell phone minutes.

Oh, law school news: I was accepted at Santa Clara. So now I've heard from all but 3 of the schools to which I applied. Still waiting on U Penn, Columbia, and Yale. But it's not like I really need any more options; deciding should be difficult enough as it is. I can't even order food at a restaurant easily. And that's assuming I managed to decide on a restaurant in the first place. Wouldn't it be funny if I ended up not going anywhere cuz I couldn't choose? Hmm, maybe not so funny....

One last thing: I think I'm gonna buy some hardware that'll help me to record music from tapes and records onto my computer in the form of mp3s. Then, I'll be able to convert all our old music into cds. Isn't technology great? If anyone has had experience with such things, let me know cuz I'm sure I'll have questions. =)

Too Tired to Make Up a Title

I was accepted at NYU this week, but after all last week's excitement (See previous post if you have no clue what I mean.), I was kinda blase about it. I guess the novelty is wearing off a little.

Or maybe it's cuz I've been sick this week. The usual: cough, fever, stuffy nose. But it sucks cuz 1) I was already sick once this year, and 2) I've got waaay too much to do. Right now, I'm feeling fairly clear-headed, but mostly I walk around in a haze. Actually, mostly I lie in bed, too out of it to accomplish anything, but too bored for words. Anyhow, I hope it goes away soon. (Does anybody ever hope to stay sick for a long time?) Okay, I'm stopping now cuz my bed is looking really appealing again.

A Crazy Week

This week has definitely been a whirlwind. The semester is ending, so I've got all kinds of final projects. And of course, there are Christmas presents to buy and make (and stress over). The sad news this week is that my sister lost her baby. The doctor couldn't find a heartbeat at the 8-week check-up. So if you get a chance, say a prayer or think good thoughts for her.

There was also some happy news this week. I got accepted at Stanford, Harvard, and Cal. I can't believe that I got into all these schools, and it all happened within one week! It seemed like each day brought a new surprise; I definitely didn't expect to hear so early. I am expecting to hear from a few schools in December, but none of those are on the list! Anyhow, I can already tell I'm gonna have real difficulty deciding where to go, but for right now, I'm just enjoying getting in.

Here's hoping Cal doesn't get screwed tomorrow when they announce the BCS Bowl berths. I think an impartial analysis shows Cal is so, so, so much better than Texas. And I think it's pretty uncool that Texas is trying to "campaign" for a spot; if they really deserve to be there, they should let the record speak for itself. Anyhow, we'll see how it all goes... I'm keeping my fingers crossed....
